“Kalsu”

On the minute:

Complete 5 burpees and perform max rep 135 lbs thrusters on the minute. ( Substitution weight = Males can sub weight at 95 women at 65 )

The goal is to complete 100 total thrusters.

*At the beginning of every minute perform 5 burpees, for the rest of the minute perform as many thrusters as you can during that minute. At the beginning of the next minute perform 5 burpees and then max rep thrusters and so on until you reach 100 total thrusters.

Post the total number of minutes it took to reach 100 thrusters.

this one looks like a hard and fun WOD can’t wait to do it

Wow! That one was HARD! My arms and shoulders are still crazy sore from Monday’s workout – I couldn’t even do ONE 65lb thruster this morning (Ok…maybe I did one, but it wasn’t pretty) – had to go down to 55lb! I’m wearing the “WIMP” patch today!

    Hi All,

I taught the 1:30pm class today and when I was looking at the results board I noticed a lot of people had dropped the weight. Now – the 135 Rx for guys would definitely be tough – but in my mind I thought the 95/65 was very reasonable. Whenever I see people struggling with the workout – I wonder what is making it difficult for everyone so I decided I had better give it a go and see for myself:) ( I never relish the idea of 100 burpees along with 100 thrusters!)

Here was my experience. I started with 65 lbs for the first 6 minutes. I quickly became aware of what the problem would be if I continued with 65lbs. (maybe this was the same for some of you) I consider my thruster technique decent – I keep my elbows high and drive with my legs. Regardless of this technique, a little muscle in your shoulder called the anterior deltoid comes into play with the thruster…here’s the kicker, this small muscle also gets utilized on the first and last part of the burpee. After about six minutes – this small muscle in the front of my shoulder was so fried I couldn’t get the weight over my head in a safe manner. I finished the workout in 18:57 with the remainder of the minutes at 55 lbs. At one point I was barely able to drop to the ground for the burpee without falling on my face!

On a final note – good job to anyone that gets through this one!! I can barely type (I’m using my tongue now) See you all at the gym!

I couldn’t do it. I got to about 65 and found the pain in my left shoulder so bad that I was doing one armed burpies. I tried doing squats only but had the pain during the clean to lift the bar. Hopefully I can do better tomorrow.

Holy CRAP !!!! That was a killer for sure…I started and ended with 95pds and that was still a hurtfull weight at the end…..I did it in about 20 min….Feel very sick now….Good lucj to all who endevours the pain….lol

  6. Tammy says:

I totally enjoyed this WOD….yes I know I am sick. After reading the board and seeing that people had to drop weight I decided to put on 2X5lbs on each side and then just take them off when I needed too…well I never dropped my weight…it was all mental…actually all I heard was George in my head saying don’t you dare drop down you can do it so I pushed through. When I got to roughly 25, 50 and 75 thrusters, for the next minute I only did the 5 burpess and rested the rest of the time which I think totally gave me the strength to keep my weight on.
    21:31 Rx’d 65 lbs LOVED IT!!!! :-)

I actually didn’t do this WOD, but really appreciate Tammy’s post. Thanks for sharing how you conquered this one. Sharing strategies like that (i.e. taking a “rest” round, loading the weights with 2X 5lbs) really helps for these mentally tough WODs…trying to figure out the right approach is sometimes the hardest part of the WOD…
