OH MY…I know that I definitely won’t be able to do 135lbs…what is the female scaled down version?

  2. Mark says:

    It’s 95 lbs. Have fun.

  3. Dan says:

Just wanted to say a big congrats to Tracy who acheived her goal of doing a rope climb! She did all climbs as rx in yesterdays wod. (not bad from not being able to do one). I am loving the goals being crossed off on the board.

  4. Roge says:

I love the video posted today. Very appropriate for our gym. Please cut the chit chat prior to and during workouts. I left Pure Fitness and Goodlife because too much time was wasted during workouts socializing. Get an email/number, talk after. We pay more in gym fee’s then other gym’s to enjoy the benefits of knowledgable trainers being present and wanted to help us during our workouts. Chit chat and carrying on takes away from our trainers ability to help members. Also, I’ve searched and searched the WOD archives, with no luck, to try and find “complaining” as one of the exercises in any of the workouts. Complaining won’t change the workout, it won’t make you stronger/faster, it won’t help you in any positive way. If you have a complaint please write it down and put it in the suggestion box next to the water cooler.

  5. Jeff says:

Yikes. I like the chit-chat among members but I agree that it should end when the trainer takes over. Those guys (and girls) are ‘smrt’ and I take in everything they have to say… even if its the 100th time I’ve seen them demo a squat.

I seriously enjoy the company of the people that work out at our gym and would have a hard time not talking to people. Please say hi to me next time we work out together Roge and I’ll respond with a nod.. then I’ll be quiet I promise :)

Maybe I’m at a different class but I can’t recall I heard anyone complain. Cfit is challenging… that’s why we are all there.

    Jeff (short trini guy)

  6. Mark says:

How come Dan’s new name is Roge, is that your hockey name? Weighing in on this, I think that if you are focused you should have a little apprehension before the wod because you are hitting it an intensity that is so high. On the chit chat before a wod I don’t mind it as long as it is productive. Maybe some conversation about how to attack it or maybe a strategy to increase your performance would be good. Texting during demos is unacceptable and not actively participating in demos even though it is your 100th time there isn’t cool because you might learn a differnt technique that you may have missed, of a different cue that will make it easier for you in in your workout. Also watching the demos is a great visualization as to how to perform the movements. I don’t want to hear any negativity either and I will tell people to stop throwing out those negative vibes because a simple “oh this is going to be hard” poisons everyones workout environment. If you tell yourself that it is going to be hard or that you can’t do it, you won’t prove yourself wrong. I only want positive attitudes and thoughts before and during a workout. You can complain about it after everyone is done. I really enjoy chatting with people before and after the wods, but when I say 3-2-1 go then I’m there to cue and teach and occassionaly cheerlead. Really if you are talking during your workouts, then you probably aren’t working hard enough.

  7. Roge says:

Yeah, sorry for the rant. I’ve been experiencing classes with alot of wasted time prior to WOD’s with people talking instead of warming up or not knowing there weights which inevitably slows the class down. Again, I love the crossfit community that’s being built; just wanted to express my displeasure in regards to some situations I’ve seen.

  8. Roge says:

Roge is easier when we have 3-4 Dan’s. Raw-guh.

  9. Daniel says:

    Well said Mark. Dan,

  10. Brian says:

Love it! I’ve seen the texting during the trainers WOD explanation/ demo (rude), don’t worry I called the person on it! Roge, I posted about complaining when our site was different, not sure if it is around. I agree, before the WOD is the time to focus, warm up and get ready, after is for socializing, puking, etc….further, little frustrated with the folks who come in 5 to 10 minutes after class start time, try 10 to 15 minutes before and get that warm up done!!

  11. Jeff says:

Let me get this straight.. Dan R is now Roge… nice bro, I’m calling you that from now on. I appreciate the rant more knowing who it’s coming from.

BTW Brian sorry about last Monday man, was helping out with a sick daughter at home… hence the 15 min late entry. Stuff happens – but I hear ya!

    Jeff

  12. Julie Cascagnette says:

Ok, I have read and digested all the comments above. Part of my love of Crossfit is the chit chat and comaradarie (spelling?) of the club. Dan I’m sorry if you think I “complain”, but if you know me you know it’s pure sarcasm – just trying to razz whoever is training that day. I don’t think we should be posting anything negative on here as it gets peoples backs up – there was A LOT of conversation about that rant. Perhaps bringing it to the attention of the trainers to make a point of announcing at the next few classes would be a better way. Being negative and acting like drill sargents won’t motivate anyone. We all need pushes now and again but I believe it’s up to the individual to recognize that. If you wanna show up late, not warm up or chat instead of setting up your weights, then the class should start without you. If your son is late for school, does his class wait for him to sit down and open his books? Not likely. With Owen in hockey, I can assure you practice starts on time, if he’s not on the ice they start without him and he’s left wondering what he’s missed. I think it should be left to the individuals to be responsible for their own actions. We don’t pay to cater to those who aren’t invested. Now I have spoken and this subject is CLOSED. :)

  13. Brian says:

Hey Jeff, despite Julie saying subject is closed, I wanted to let you know I wasn’t singling you out, you came in late but focused and determined,as you always are! It is the casual, laid back, late attendee that duisrupts, not you!! We all lead busy live’s, and stuff happens, these rants are what make crossfit a community, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and welcome to voice it!! Free speach Julie..get used to it!!

  14. Julie Hadley says:

Oh Brian, I was only trying to make light of the whole thing. I love Dan Rogers. I like all the trainers…..well… MOST of them.

  15. Brian says:

Too many Dans to keep track of, and I know you love me!!

  16. Steve C says:

    Love it.

Great forum to voice an opinion and I applaud all who have weighed in. Leave the opinion and attitude here, the sweat, tears and puke in the gym. The intensity, energy, attention and dedication of the trainers along with the effort and determination of the members are what make Crossfit unique for me. That cant change period. Although I havent experienced a great degree of negativity in my experiences yet, I support correcting anything or anyone who is poisoning the environment immediately.
