All You Need to Know

The KYA training program is a great start to your new health goals.  We usually have some common questions that we can answer for you here.

squat for healthWhy is it more expensive than other “boot camps”?

There are a couple of reasons that we cost a bit more.  For some of you this will not be problem because you have been recommended by friend that has had a great experience at Firepower Training – but for those that are new and wondering what is the difference, here are a few things that make us stand out:

  • 7000 sq foot indoor facility designed specifically to be a playground for people wanting to be reinvigorated with training
  • Small class size.  Some boot camps have up to 60 people in the class.  When no one knows if you are there how can you get personalized attention? KYA training has between 10-20 clients per session.
  • Instructors that are available to answer your questions when you aren’t at the gym, just email us and we will get back to you.
  • We offer pre and post assessments that are critical to your success and health!
  • KYA training is more than just a boot camp – because we want to get to know you and get you to your goals.
  • KYA training uses functional fitness.  No dancing, no sweating to the oldies and no things that tone and firm your inner thighs – KYA training is about being in the best possible shape to do things that matter in life.

Each class you will leave with something to work on.  It could be grocery shopping, working out on your own or tracking your eating.  We all know that sometimes we need to be accountable to someone other than ourselves – group training and a bit of social pressure goes a long way in keeping you on track.  It’s always easy to disappoint ourselves but it’s tougher when someone else will be carrying the torch with you towards your success.

How hard will it really be?

No doubt about it, you will work hard.  All exercises will be scaled to match your ability but you will be challenged by the workouts.  Our goal is to get you in shape – not kill you!

I thought you had to work out 7 days a week to get results?

What is interesting is that although both exercise and nutrition are important for weight loss, only about 30 percent of that weight loss is based on exercise.  That’s why we have 4 days of exercise (and homework days) but we factor in the very important nutritional training and eating programs throughout the 30 days.

What should I wear?

The gym is a large open building that will be cool in the winter.  Expect to wear layers and as you warm up you can take some clothing off.

What I have high blood pressure, can I still participate?

If you already know that you have a medical condition that might be a factor when working out – please get clearance from your doctor before registering for the program.If we find on the initial assessment that you have high blood pressure you will be charged for the assessment only ($40) – if you are not able to get medical clearance you will be refunded the remaining amount.
