Hey! This looks fantastic and can’t wait to give it a go. But I was really hoping to do that hose tower climb, sledgehammer, drag and aim firehose at a target and drag a dummy relay…seriously looks like a wicked challenge. Any chance of having a go at a relay like that???!

“■Fitness activities designed to mimic real-life activities of fire fighters”
“■May include: sledgehammering, hose pulling, rope climbing, ladder carries, tire flipping, dummy drags, etc.”

I hope this is more of a firefighter challenge with the activities listed above, rather than just a CrossFit challenge in firefighter gear….

    Hi CF,
We’ve been doing our best to make this a challenging and fun event using all the resources we have. It’s designed as a FUN fitness challenge to allow people from the community a chance to mimic a firefighters’ level of fitness requirements while wearing their bunker gear. The event was not designed or intended to duplicate the Combat Challenge. Registered participants include active police, fire, military, and civilian people.

It is not a CrossFit challenge. But we are a small family owned and operated CrossFit facility so yes we are incorporating the equipment we have plus donated firefighting equipment and gear from Toronto Fire Services and Milton Fire Services. Due to the overwhelming response of participants, we’ve had to cut off registration and revise some of the workouts to accommodate equipment availability and maintain time lines.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the experience with your team and that you see value in the minimal registration fee required since it is a fundraiser and ALL proceeds are going to the CFFF.

Looking forward to seeing you and your crew on Saturday!!

    Andrea

I agree Andrea. I know that these activities will give a pretty accurate representation of the demands of firefighter. The weights aren’t unreasonable and we will scale for individual participants if needed. The fundraiser is a phenomenal value for the $25. I’m glad to be a part of it. As you can see from the videos the activities are not specific to crossfit (whatever that means) and are real life tasks. Nobody has trained for many of these movements and therefore I feel the playing field is pretty level. This is our first go at such an event and I feel it is a unique opportunity.

Hi guys! Very excited to do this on Saturday!

I have confused myself :) We have a co-ed team of 3 females, 1 male. For the hose pull, as I understand each team gets two hoses to simultaneously have 2 members pulling while the other 2 rest. (Yes?) Would our team need an extra “girl-hose” to be able to keep switching off with our guy? Or will there just be lots of both types of hoses for all the teams to keep going, and shouldn’t be an issue?

    Thanks!!

  6. Mark says:

Hey Babs your team will have two 65 hoses and one 100 mm hose. So all is good and you can trade off in any combo you want. Hope this helps!

  7. Jen says:
